Doors. Some open, some remain shut. What is your perspective - are you meant to walk through doors, or leave them shut?

I’ve always believed doors are meant to be opened. ...
There was a small community building down the country road from my childhood home. A girlfriend and I needed shade from our bike ride, I saw an open door. This very plain and simple building was old and smelly with no air conditioning. We found our way to another open door that led down to a cool basement. Eleven year old girls, we were curious and intrigued. The unknown of "what's waiting on the other side" drew us to more doors. Until we opened one door and a plastic skeleton fell out on us! Doors are meant to be opened, even if a surprise scare lies waiting for you. That thrill of turning the knob to the unknown is my favorite part. We get to write the rest of the story. What doors are you meant to open?

I decided to walk through the door which was an invitation from Ruth to visit the shelter. I was humbled by seeing all the shelter provides. Ruth shared with me the need to raise money for the Washington Hope Center and I immediately saw a DOOR and I responded "We are going to help get to that fundraising goal".

This door led me to creating a Brunch Event as a fundraiser. I am amazed by the support from the local community. I have reached out to several local businesses and they also saw the door and walked right through it. At the Brunch Event, were sponsors like, Tropical Smoothie, Crabby's, Personal Chef Josie Mai, Suzanne's Natural Food, Clark's Cuisine, Joplin Avenue Coffee and more! There was live music from a dear and lifelong friend, Ashlee Coate; Alyssa Galvan from Carl Junction, MO and more!
...
We expected 300 attendance and over 600 visitors enjoyed the Brunch Event.
...
We invited local media to cover the Event and 2 different TV stations, 1 radio station and 1 local newspaper covered the event! ...
Authentic exposure for all businesses involved and a beautiful community awareness for the local shelter ...
