My eyes opened to a dry desert breeze; the sound of nothing surrounded. There it was. Staring at me...a scorpion, less than 12 inches away. ...
Five Summers of my childhood spent at an orphanage in Mexico. The scorpion met me as we slept outside under an open porch. ...
The most courageous lady I know, packed us for a volunteer trip into the heart of Mexico. My Mom and I drove down to Coahuila, Mexico for a 12 weeks stay. I became fluent in Spanish and expanded my little mind in the vastness of life. I was 11 years old when I first saw families living in cardboard boxes. I was 11 years old when I first saw families eating a cat for dinner. I was 11 years old when I first saw hopelessness.

Last year I visited Watered Gardens, a Gospel Rescue Mission in Joplin, MO. They had contacted me through Joplimo Mattress with a need for bed donations. My first response is always “YES!” when a bed donation is requested. But the timing of this request was eventful. Several days earlier I had filed for a non-profit organization, Wings for Dreams Foundation.

The Wings for Dreams Foundation exists to GIVE and CONNECT sleep and volunteers
Our Mission:
To positively impact kids in the Ozarks facing emotional, economic and physical challenges.
We connect bed donations and volunteers to Nonprofits that provide housing for kids in the Ozarks.

Watered Gardens is developing the Washington Family Hope Center which will be their first shelter to offer sleeping quarters for children. Timing is everything and it was just this timing that brought Watered Gardens to contact us for bed donations.

The next event to donate to Washington Family Hope Center is April, 2020; slated for the Grand Opening! (subscribe to stay updated) See ya there!
